SPECIAL NEWS - Register for the Summer Camp!! JKA American Federations 1st Annual Summer Camp will be held from May 28th - 31st. In addition to our Takayuki Mikami Sensei, we are honored to invite TWO instructors from Japan HQ: Yoshiharu Osaka Sensei (8 dan) and Takuya Taniyama Sensei (6 dan). Chicago Camp Report! From March 20 - 23, 2009, the UIC Karate Club in Chicago hosted the second "Master Mikami Seminar". Training was fantastic, new kyus and dans qualified from the exams, and many members enjoyed the special Instructor Training Program Classes on Sunday. Our dojo friend instructor, Mr. Jordan Scott, and some of his members joined our seminar. The "Master Mikami Seminar" is open to everyone who seeks for a great Karate experience! ~Toshihide Tony Nakamura~
Greenville Camp Report! March 6th through March 8th, 2009 the Greenville YMCA Shotokan Karate Club, Chief Instructor Bill Staten, hosted the annual Winter Training camp in Greenville, Mississippi. In addition to the usual camp, Sensei Mikami granted permission to Bill to host a special Saturday afternoon training session which was conducted by the JKAAF team USA candidates, including Dimitri Popadopoulas, Ray Semona, and Lane Nevils. The Greenville camp is open to all karateka with over 3 months of training and was very well attended this year. We also had special guests that traveled from Brevard, Florida (Dr. Javier Simons) from Pensacola, Florida (Tom Fruitticher) and from San Antonio, Texas (John Haral). Nine candidates tested for their black belts (Shodan) and higher levels of black belt. On behalf of all the students and me, thank you all for attending the Greenville Camp this year and we look forward to seeing each of you again next year!!! ~Bill Staten~
