1st JKA American Federation National Camp Report

On May 28th - 31st, JKA American Federation has hosted the 1st National Camp.  Despite the recession, the camp was a success with about 200 attendees.  JKA Headquarter instructors, Yoshiharu Osaka Sensei and Takyua Taniyama Sensei, were invited as guest instructors, along with our JKA American Federation Chief Instructor, Takayuki Mikami Sensei present at the camp.  The main focus of the camp was to introduce JKA technical and structural standard.  The very foundation of JKA Karate techniques were introduced, which allowed young and elder Karate practioners can uniformly improve their techniques.

Qualification examination and rank exmaination up to 6 dan were given.  These exams also served as qualification and rank adjustments for the ones who transferred from different organizations.  With the exams conducted at the JKA Standard by the three great instructors, it gave clear technical and training goals for the future.

There were many learning points for further improvements.  For example, the camp dates overlapped with some college graduations, and the exam took longer than expected.  We would like to continue improving our camp, so the comments about the camp are always welcome.  The camp will be one of our biggest event of the year, and we would like to host events for Spring and Fall as well.

Thank you very much for your contribution and spirit for the great success of the camp!

Pictures and Video will follow soon!!

Exam Results are in!

The dan and qualification exams were conducted by the JKA instructors:  Takayuki Mikami, Yoshiharu Osaka, and Takuya Taniyama.  The exam followed the strict JKA HQ standard, so it was a difficult exam.  The exam has given a strong message that the academic side of Karate is as important as being able to execute techniques.  It became a great driver for everyone to study even harder for the future.
